The
Northumbrian Water GLOBE Project
The
Northumbrian Water GLOBE Project is a unique scheme linking
schools and education centres throughout the North East of England with
the GLOBE Programme in order to measure the weather.
Northumbrian
Water is keen set up a network of schools and education centres providing weather data
so that it can help
to predict changes in weather
patterns as a result of climate change. This will lead to
a better understanding of the operational challenges of their
sewerage networks.
Northumbrian
Water is
providing up to 85
selected schools with a special support package, which includes
a free automated Weather Station, plus
free
training and support for one teacher so that the school becomes
registered with the GLOBE Programme.
There
are also links to curriculum-related materials to help with
classroom teaching on weather issues. Click
here to see the launch event in July 2007.
Northumbrian
Water will be selecting the schools to give a good coverage
throughout the North East - click here to
